Politics, Science, and Popular Culture
I found this article, I have to admit I haven't read it all. Kind of glanced through it roughly.
What I did catch in the bits and pieces was enough to share on Facebook. I'll include a snapshot of my comments below.

For all those who are against the legalization of cannabis and your sitting there drinking a cool alcoholic beverage. Remember the next time a drunk driver kills or injures another person, you need to be in court standing next to that driver and as far as I'm concerned be judged right along side the drunk. It doesn't take a lot of common sense or intelligence to see that alcohol is the wrong choice of recreation for some of the people. I find it difficult to believe or trust anyone who claims cannabis is wrong for all the people, when they use threats of fines and incarcerations in an attempt to intimidate people to accept their opinion as the only opinion and the right opinion.

That's how it starts, then I wonder WTH is wrong with our society. It would seem that some people have a habit of making other people lives more complicated than it already is.
I may be wrong but, I think my comment is easy to understand. Jose Guerena is the victim of the outdated and failed prohibition policies we have in place. Would this have made the news or be this controversial if he did have drugs?
How can anyone claim this as being a justified death regardless of the questionable drug laws?
In my opinion it's a lack of respect to define our ability to be a respectable citizen based on what we possesses to consume in the privacy of our own homes under our own freewill.
My concept of a respectable citizen should be defined by how they treat the people of their community and by whether they can accept and admit responsibility for their mistakes.
Everyone is entitle to mistakes, it's the ability to learn from ones mistakes that make people better. This holds true for both an individual and a group.
The old adage is:
If at first you don't succeed, try, try again.
Now the problem with that is some people keep trying the same thing the same way over and over and over. The failure rate will always be 100%. Excuse me, that isn't what it means. It means we need to rethink the problem and find a competent and practical solution to the problem. Ignoring this means to me that we the superior intelligent beings aren't as superior as we think we are.

Mixed Reactions
Let's look at what is causing this for me.
Then let's add this from Facebook if you can read the comments, Medical marijuana legalization underway in Arkansas.
Now, being in the so-called bible belt as so many claim. I have a problem with those who keep trying to impose upon me their concept of what a Christian is.
First, if as they claim to believe God created all living things including the plants. It is my belief that by eradicating the cannabis and hemp plant we are saying God is an idiot who had no clue as to what he was doing. And therefore have placed ourselves above God and creation, that doesn't set well with me. This is the same as lying to yourself about the trust you have in God. So, why should I actually trust these people?
Second, God created us to be individually different. It is said he will provide for us what we need to survive. This does not mean he will provide for everyone in the same way. His provisions include the plants and animals we need to sustain life, the mind to discover and learn new things. This is why some claim us to be the superior intelligence on this world. Well if we are, why is it we are being led to ignore the knowledge and information of past generations?
Third, of all people who should be fighting for the decriminalization and legalization of cannabis and hemp, it should be the very same people who claim to believe in and trust God for providing us with such a beneficial plant. The uses of these plants have been tested through out history and time. They have provided us with a source of nutrition, fiber for clothing and paper, a source of fuel, and as medicine for a fairly large number of health problems. How can we continue to overlook the possibilities?
Forth, we have people who claim to use cannabis as a sacramental part of their religion. There are some who state these people only use it as an excuse to get high. I haven't made my mind up on that thought, but I am not doubting it either. There have been cases of people who have proven to use the name of God for their own personal gains, this also doesn't set well with me. Yet, there is evidence that ties the use of cannabis to ceremonies of long extinct people. Should we just ignore this? Who really has the final say as to an individuals religious beliefs?
Now on to the individual differences of people.
As I have mentioned before we are all equally and individually different from one another. Each one of us has different beliefs and opinions, desires and needs, and also science (being the educational tool that it is) has taught us that we also react individually different to what we consume. Read my Peanut Theory for a little more of my thoughts on this subject.

Yea, I Read Cop Blogs
The title says it all, I follow the blogs of a few cop who catch my interest some of them have discontinued their blog. I think this might have to do with the police department politics, their protecting their butts from becoming a scapegoat of a brown-noser.
Not all cops are bad people, there are those who make the good cops look bad. The cops job is to enforce laws made by over educated elected officials, who don't have any respect for the people who pay their salaries.
COP in the days of old was the word of respect, at least that's how I understood it. It meant constable on patrol. These constables protected the people from acts of violence, They didn't arrest some one by what they possessed to consume, but for how they treated other individuals.
This is the link to Beat and Release I read his blog and he has an interesting take on Pima County's excessive use of deadly force done earlier this month. This cop's perspective brings to questions concerning the damages and death that result from our prohibition policies.

Contradictions of a Nation
Here are some pictures to question the concept of the greatest nation in the world. Most of these can be solved with basic common sense and getting the priorities of our broken justice system in proper order.

Educating Myself in the Field of Computer Technology
Ok, as I have mentioned before I'm not a big fan of Microsoft computer software, so I use Linux Open Source software. I have been recycling and refurbishing older computers for a few years trying to learn my way around the hardware aspect of it. Now, I think I'm ready to tackle some of the software side of it. I have been dabbling in it a little, not enough to crash a computer.
Here is the link to my desktop screenshots, after I figured out that I could do that little deal. Who ever came up with the screenshot software is much appreciated. It helps me record the different versions of Linux I have tried. I pretty much have everything to my liking on the desktop now, as to what I like a setup to look like. The only thing I'm changing now is the backgrounds.
My latest recycle project is now fully loaded with the software I enjoy using, my mail clients, web browsers and media software, everything is set-up.
I may install the Google Gadgets software to see if I might like them, will let you know how that works and take some more pictures of them. There are a few more packages I'm wanting to try out though. My next project is learning to transfer all my web browser bookmarks to this desktop. While I was at it these couple of days, I also changed my blog site a little, background and style.
For those of you who might be interested this is Linux Mint it's became my preferred distribution of Linux. I am especially fond of the XFCE version, but I have almost all the current versions on file. I have Google Desktop installed on Konqueror it's a file manager/web browser in one, and I also have Kontact for my email/office client. Most of the KDE software I have is used for work related emails and web searches. I do enjoy the ability to mix and match from different desktop environments of Linux.
I haven't learned to use terminal to install my preferred software, so I am using the synaptic package manager and the software manager. Most of the Linux distribution have some form of installing packages this way.

Little Rock DJ Arrested for DWI
Here's a local DJ Tommy Smith arrested for DWI and few other charges. These are the stories from 2 of our local stations where I read the news. Yes, I read news. I can't sit in front of a television and watch commercials for alcohol and prescription drugs. Both of those products are involved in this story.
Now I have comments on both sites concerning my thoughts of this.
First thought: Would he be receiving this attention if he was to have a choice in the recreational products he consumed?
Second thought: Why would anyone continue to use a product if they knew it would control their life, instead of them controlling the product?
Third thought: This is proof that everything the government approves and claims to be the only legal options isn't the right option for everyone.

Another Rescue and Recycle
Well the other day I rescued a couple of computers from being trashed out. I ended up with the Dell 2400 which I am presently writing this blog on. It's replacing the Enterprise server that I recycled last. BTW, there's nothing wrong with the server it still works but it doesn't have the speed like this one. The other is a Compaq I couldn't get it to run, I suspect the motherboard is shot. I was able to use the dvd rw from it. I put it in this Dell.
Here's the screenshot of it. Yes, I like steampunk themed backgrounds. My daughter really liked this one. It's steampunked medieval Naval Air warcraft.
As always I install Linux on my recycles, my preferred distribution is Linux Mint. This is Mint 9 XFCE, it has long term support until 2013 and has became a favorite of mine. I did the install last night with whatever upgrades that were available. This morning I started adding all my preferred software, Seamonkey Internet suite by Mozilla, rekong a KDE web browser, Konqueror another KDE web browser plus file manager, VLC media player, Chromium Browser, Picasa 3 for my pictures and a few other programs.
After the install it was time to set my browsers up, I have different browser for different persona's. Seamonkey is my preferred it's the one I use for my rants and raves here and on Facebook, and the mail/news client is awesome.
