Memphis residents prepare for rising river - CBS News
As with all the natural disasters of the last 20+ years. I take them as a sign for the people to shape up, to treat the Earth as if it is an individual living being. Some may argue that is a bullshit idea or religion. But don't expect me to rush around and try to save their precious butts when we have no where else to go. We haven't advanced enough to be ready to evacuate this planet any time in the near future.
I have been told that the Earth can't like or dislike what we do to it. Well, every action has an opposite and equal reaction that is a proven fact. So, if the Earth can't like or dislike, how come these natural disasters are more frequent and dangerous? Are we just so smart that we're stupid enough to not pay attention to what's happening to the world we call home?
We have what is commonly referred to as Fracking, the use of hydrolic jacks to hammer the natural gases of the crevices of the rocks. Just out of curiosity, how many of you people are willing to stand there and be hammered on for days at a time? How long would you live if some one stuck needles in your arm and pumped out your blood at a steady slow pace, faster then you can replenish it?
Then I read this. I see this as pure profiteering, there are those who are addicted to greed. Their greed has placed us in a position of being dependent on oil for various products that could and should be of a more environmentally friendly process. In other words they also are addicted to oil and petroleum based products. Well, look around those products have proven to be not as healthy for us or our world as we were led to believe. These products are endangering the future generations. I for one am not wanting to or willing to try keeping up with the Jones, the Jones of this world aren't very practical. Nor do they seem to have the ability to use basic common sense and intelligence. I prefer reliable, sturdy long lasting environmentally friendly products, especially if they are biodegradable.
As an independent contractor I would rather to have steady work with a small steady profit any day of the week than the occasional work with high profit margins. It in my opinion makes good business sense. We are living in a society that has forgotten what customer loyalty is, our corporations show no respect for the customers who help them build up to where they are today. They have set quality control programs and safety guidelines, but also at the same time don't offer the employees any incentives to really care about those policies.
Mother Nature shouldn't be fooled with like we have been doing over the past 20-30 years. She doesn't tolerate the ignorance as well as people do. We can't make better people with the chemicals of convenience, the new and improved isn't always better or greater than the old and reliable ways. Nor do I believe that the advances in chemical science has the ability to solve all the problems the people of this world face. It is time for the individual people to be practical in their actions and decisions.
I have in the past questioned the concept of people as a species being the superior intelligence on this world, we have 1,000's of years worth of knowledge available to us, thanks mainly to the previous generations who lived before us. Yet we seem to have a habit of ignoring the knowledge of that past. The old adage those who ignore the past will relive it, has a special ring to it in my heart. The past tends to come back and haunt us.
